Acid Chryso 3X
Introduction: Chrysophanic acid is an organic acid obtained from rhubarb and some lichens.
Chrysophanicum acidum has been used with some success in the lower triturations internally for
psoriasis, ringworm and other skin affections, also as a local application in ringworm. This drug
is of especial value in obstinate cases of blepharitis ciliaris, especially in scrofulous, poorly
nourished children, with pustules or eczematous eruption about the eyes.
Synonym: Chrysophanic acid, (C15H10O4)
Source: Chrysophanic acid is the chief constituent of Goa powder, in which it exists to the
amount of eighty-four per cent. It is also found in Rumex crispus, in the root of Rheum
officinale, and in the yellow lichen, Parmelia parietina.
Preparation: Triturations are prepared with sugar of milk.
Clinical: Ophthalmia. Psoriasis. Ringworm.

Guiding symptoms/Indications:
 Eyes, pupils contracted, photophobia, pain from least ray of light, phosphorescent flashes
of light, on forcing eyes to look at objects, retinal impressions remain a long time after
closing the eyes, lids swell, skin around lids irritated.
 Ringworms are said to disappear rapidly after its application.
 In phlyctenular keratitis and conjunctivitis when but little pain, photophobia or
lachrymation with eczematous eruption of the face.
Dose and administration: 1 tab 3 to 4 times daily for adult. ½ tab 3 to 4 times daily for
children.
Side effects: No significant side effect has been observed in proper dosage.
Presentations: 50 tabs (20 gm in PET bottle), 450gm powder in container.
Use in Pregnancy: During pregnancy should be taken as per the advice of physician.
