Description
Antimonium Crudum 3x (Antim Crud 3X)
Introduction: It is prepared from mineral kingdom. The crude drug substance is a compound
formed by Antimony and Sulphur. One of our veteran has told regarding this drug that Antim
crudum corresponds in a sense to the race of swine, as Arsenic does to horse and Pulsatilla to
sheep. For Homoeopathic employment the mental symptoms and gastric symptoms determine its
choice.
Synonyms: Sulphide of Antimony, Black Antimony, stibnite, Sb2S3.
Source: It is a chemical compound of Antimony and Sulphur, Grayish crystalline powder is
obtained by purification of native antimony sulphide.
Preparations: Triturations of Antimony-Sulphide are prepared with sugar of milk.
Proved by: Caspari, one of the fellow provers of Hahnemann and Hahnemann in 1828. It is one
of the Anti-psoric remedy given in “Chronic Diseases”
Constitution:
1. Appearance: Suited to children and young people, who are inclined to grow fat, extremes of
life, having tendency to thick unhealthy skin. Old people with morning diarrhoea (Phos.).
2. Miasm : Psora and sycosis are in the background.
3. Diathesis: Rheumatic and gouty diathesis.
Guiding symptoms/Indications:
1. Gastric complaints from over eating; stomach weak, digestion easily disturbed; a thick milky
white coating on the tongue; which is the red strand of the remedy; susceptible to canker sores in
the mouth (Arg. n., Sulph.).
2. Gastric and intestinal affections; from bread and pastry, acids, especially vinegar; sour or bad
wine; after cold bathing; over heating; hot weather.
3. Headache: after river bathing; from taking cold; alcoholic drinks; deranged digestion, acids,
fat, fruit; suppressed eruption.
4. Constant discharge of flatus, up and down, for years, belching, tasting of ingesta.
5. Mucus, in large quantities from posterior nares by hawking; from anus; ichorous, oozing,
staining yellow, mucous piles.
6. Disposition to abnormal growths of the skin; finger nails do not grow rapidly; crushed
(broken) nails grow in splits like warts and with horny spots.
7. Large horny corn on soles of feet (Ran. b.), very sensitive when walking, especially on stone
pavements.
8. Cannot bear the heat of the sun; worse from exertion in the sun (Lach., Nat. m.), agg. from
over heating near the fire; exhausted in warm weather; ailments from sun burn.
9. Aversion to cold bathing (Amm. c., Clem., Psor., Rhus t., Sep., Spig., Sulph.); child cries
when washed or bathed with cold water; cold bathing causes violent headache; causes
suppressed menses; colds from swimming or falling into water (Rhus tox.).
10. Whooping cough: agg. by being over-heated in the sun or in a warm room; from cold
washing.
11. Loss of voice from becoming over heated (Haem.).
12. When symptoms reappear they change locality or go from one side of the body to the other.
Particulars:
In Gastro-intestinal disorder: It is suitable for old people with morning diarrhoea, who are
suddenly becoming constipated or diarrhoea and constipation alternate with. Also suited to
children and young people who are inclined to grow fat.
As the main action of Antim. crudum is on mucous membrane, especially of stomach and
intestine, it causes dis-organisation and vital depression of mucous membrane of stomach and
intestine, which interferes with digestion and produces catarrhal condition resulting in alternate
diarrhoea and constipation.
It is a SPECIFIC remedy in the following conditions:
Headache : after river bathing; from taking cold, alcoholic drinks; deranged digestion, acids, fat,
fruits; suppressed eruptions.
Large horny corns on soles of feet; very sensitive when walking.Callosity from pressure on feet
from pressure of shoes.
Aphonia from becoming overheated. Diarrhoea from sour wine.Ailments with milky white
coating on the tongue.
Changeable symptoms: gouty symptoms on extremities suddenly stop followed by gastric
symptoms; symptoms go from one side to other; they change locality.
Dose and administration: 1 tab 3 to 4 times daily for adult. ½ tab for 3 to 4 times daily
children.
Side effects: No significant side effect has been observed in proper dosage.
Contraindication: There is no known contraindication.
Relationship:
Compare: Antimonium Chloridum. Butter of Antimony (A remedy for cancer. Mucous
membranes destroyed. Abrasions. Skin cold and clammy. Great prostration of strength. Dosethird trituration).
Complementary remedies: Sulph.
